laurel and hardy essential collection

LAUREL & HARDY: THE ESSENTIAL COLLECTION
Release Year (Set): 2011
Format: DVD
Outlet: Amazon
Sale Price as of Today: $34.49

I purchased this set last year (and even though it was on sale, I still paid five bucks more for it than what it’s going for right now), and I am here to tell you that it is worth every penny. You’re looking at ten discs of comedy brilliance, from the duo’s hilarious shorts to their feature-length films, and even the bilingual Spanish/French versions of certain productions (which are quite the curiosity). This deal is only valid through Saturday, so I recommend buying it now. Seriously–why are you still here? Get it while you still can!

doris day rock hudson

THE DORIS DAY & ROCK HUDSON COMEDY COLLECTION
Release Year (Set): 2007
Format: DVD
Outlet: DeepDiscount.com
Sale Price as of Today: $12.59

I’ve owned this set for several years, and it’s one I return to often, as the three Day-Hudson films (particularly the first two) are perennial favorites of mine. All three films are here on two discs, in a no-frills presentation: Pillow Talk, Lover Come Back, and Send Me No Flowers.

barnes and noble criterion sale

And last but certainly not least: as many of you are probably already WELL aware, it’s time once again for the Barnes & Noble Criterion sale! Through July 28th, all Criterion titles are 50%, both online and in-store. Some of the recently-released titles we recommend: Howard Hawks’ amazing Western Red River; Wes Anderson’s delightful stop-motion animated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox; Charlie Chaplin’s silent masterpiece City Lights; and Alfred Hitchcock’s thrilling Foreign Correspondent. All of these titles are available on dual-format release. And there are hundreds more titles to choose from, so now is the time to snap up your favorites!
