A message from Brandie:
As of today’s post, True Classics has reached the one-hundredth post milestone.
Yay! Let’s raise a glass to that.
When Carrie and I had the idea to start a classic movie blog, I don’t think either one of us thought we would be able to maintain it for long. At the time, both of us were in graduate school, and it seemed like a crazy idea: “We’re going to add MORE WRITING to what we already do on a daily basis? Are we nuts!?”
And yet this blog has been a great release. Not only does it give us an excuse to watch more and more of the films we love, but it also gives us a chance to share what we love most about those movies with anyone who’s willing to listen. Let’s face it–if I didn’t have this blog to use as an outlet for all of my pent-up classic movie love, I would still be bothering the hell out of everyone I know by throwing random trivia into any given conversation. Now I can channel all of that madness into this blog. And isn’t the world just a little bit better for it. [/sarcasm]
In all seriousness, I’m so glad we did this, and that we’ve been able to “meet” (so to speak) our awesome fellow classic film lovers. I’ve learned so much in the past few months alone just from reading your blogs! In many cases, it’s inspired me to keep going when I felt no one was actually reading this stuff.
And now that we’ve welcomed our wonderful friend Nikki into the fold, it’s amazing to see how our little blog has grown since that first post ten months ago. I can’t wait to see where the next year takes us.
Collectively, we would like to thank you for sticking with True Classics, and we hope you will stick with us through the next 100 posts … and beyond!
A message from Carrie:
When Brandie approached me with this idea, it went, well, pretty much the way she said. I think my reply was, “Because we have so much time on our hands…” Needless to say, we did it anyway, although I wasn’t sure how long or well we would survive. I’m so glad we started.
Playing with this blog, and doing it in tandem, has made movie watching into a proper hobby for me. I’ve always, always loved watching movies. All kinds. Now, I actually feel like it’s something I should be doing- it’s more active. That’s made it even more fun. Linking up with others who like movies as much as we do is so fulfilling, although I never expected it to go quite this well.
I’ve learned a lot and seen a lot of movies because of this blog. My trivia knowledge is nothing to Brandie’s- which is no surprise to anyone reading the blog, but because I’ve participated, I’ve gotten to know more about the films and see many more of them. I’m very excited about our new addition to the blog, Nikki, and I’m also excited to try the new format we’ve been constructing. My hope, at least, is that it will enhance the blog, add some variety, and expand its personality.
Thanks for all the reading and the commenting over the past 100 posts. We can’t wait to play with the next hundred!
